I don't know why people think running at a lower resolution is that bad. The game looked fantastic in the gameplay videos. I'm sure remedy did plenty of experimentation on whether having a 50 buffer composite with a 540p opaque geometry map or a 20 buffer composite with a 720p opaque geometry map to see which looked best. I doubt they chose the worse looking one. If the game composites to 720p before any AA or post processing is applied (I'm guessing they do it this way as they said they outp...

I highly doubt M$ won't open their marketplace soon. They won't be able to compete with Apple's app store or the android marketplace if they don't.

I'm pretty sure they even announced this was going to happen with Windows Phone 7. Seems like a futile effort making a marketplace for the Zune right now.

Is this an actual hack or is it just a wrapper?

Are these games going to be allowed on the Zune MarketPlace (only way for this to be really viable for developers)?

Might Microsoft just consider adding access to this anyway as it seems like it's not negative and that would help prevent legitimate hacking that could ruin user's devices?

I thought XNA let you use direct3d. Is that only on PC/360 games? I know the Zune HD has an OpenGl and Direct3d enabled c...

Despite a lot of third party games selling poorly on the wii (they don't as long as you release games that favor the wii audience. The wii had 5 games in teh top 20 and DS 4 last npd), Nintendo is still making the most money off games this generation by a long shot. The PS3 would have to double it's lifetime sales and then some to catch the wii. The fact that microsoft and PS3 are both trying to break into nintendo's market is a testament to how successful nintendo was this generation.

are you daft? that's exactly what I said was arguable.

If someone broke into your house and made you sign a contract with a gun to your head would you say, "Well it's not his fault I got shot in the head... I could have just signed the contract."

They can still get sued. Almost every TOS wouldn't actually hold up in a court of law if it were brought into question. Half of them are completely unreasonable and can be argued against on a multitude of points.

In this case, the fact that you have to agree to them in order to not lose major features of your console could be argued as unreasonable. The legality of reserving the right to remove any feature is also suspect and probably wouldn't hold up in court.

there's so much fog... you can barely see the top of the mountain. what a pile...

Watch the trailer in the link. There is rarely fog at all. You can see the lighthouse from anywhere in the level and you end up running all the way there.

And there is gameplay in the article. It's a button click away.

Also, the unreal engine was developed on the PC before it was developed on the 360 or PS3.

iDtech 5 is also better looking than any engine to date and it's completely multi-platform.

The 75k average is not for leads. The average is weighted more towards the bottom end as there are more developers at the bottom end. If anyone cares to read they break it down by position too.

30-40k is just not livable in half the cities where most video game companies are located. When you consider most companies are located in cities that have the highest cost of living in the country, it's not as high as it looks.

why would you replace it? supplement it. Selling consoles is a horrible idea. You get no money for them unless it's right after launch, and worse case scenario you have something to play with friends if they come over.

This is true of any console.

The new models of 360 have smaller chip sizes which should completely change how much airflow is needed to stay cooler. There was obviously an airflow problem with the first iteration, but cooler running chips might make this a non-issue in new 360's.

@article.
I'm surprised M$ hasn't released any failure percentages for newer models just to get away from the bad press. It can't be any worse.

Also, were the 3-4 model stats really necessary? If they got that far...

why would you not do it all in $4.99s

there's no reason to bring 9.99s and 19.99s into it.

I can't help but wonder how much better it would have been without the complete redesign half way through the development cycle.

This made me more excited for future splinter cells than for this one though.

The concept is good but I question the execution. I don't like the controls very much. Too few possible selections. I also don't like how she seems really floaty. She could jump 30 feet horizontal way too easily.

GT4 also released to the largest system user base of any console in the history of the world. At it's release there were 104 million PS2s and it's sole 10.53 million LTD. that means it sold to 10% of that user base eventually.

Halo 3 has 10.9 million sales to a user base of 39 million today that's just over 25% of the user base.

To really put it in perspective, forza 2 sold 3.9 million, which puts it at 10% of the 360 user base today. Says a lot about the brand equi...

I'd say only being able to buy the points in fixed amounts is more a scam than the points themselves. The points themselves make the system a lot easier on the whole. One standard price across international borders. I am upset that people are always stuck with 50-300 points left over when buying something they want. That is by far the more scammy part.

I hit 0 points once and sent a message to most of my friends.

The lawyer would probably actually say something like, "Man we are going to make so much money it's stupid..."

You guys can really say sony's in the right all you want. The fact of the matter is that even though it might only affect 1% of the PS3 users, those users have every right to sue. They are losing an advertised feature one way or another. That is totally illegal regardless of what crappy contract/EULA/TOS you agree to. Even moreso considering that they are pract...

The halo 3 trailer wasn't made by bungie. There were probably more poly's in that master cheif model than there are in any level of any computer game released in the last 10 years.

liltitan, the games do not look the same. Go look at screenshots from both. Halo 3 looks a lot better. You just think they look the same because the styles are similar.

Halo 3 multiplayer and halo 2 multiplayer don't play extremely similarly either. the equipment, removable turrets, and new weapons make a pretty big difference. I'd say halo 3 has a lot more close combat and 2 has a significant amount of medium-long range combat.
